Dear Friend,
Just as the school year is well underway, so too is our fall programming at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Binghamton. And, while our memberships and aspirations continue to rise, our costs are also increasing.
Please consider demonstrating your support of our mission – to inspire and enable all young people to reach their full potential as productive, caring, and responsible citizens – by contributing to our Sustaining Membership Campaign held from November 10 to February 10.
During this 90-day campaign, we want to challenge our community to BE GREAT and pledge their financial support for the future of our local youth.
In his acceptance speech, our 2011 Youth of the Year, Takeen Powell, discussed the struggles he’s had in school and stressed that the Club always encouraged him to work hard, helped him with homework, and even provided school supplies for class. "I know what my grandmother tells me is right, that education is the key to success,” he said. "I appreciate the staff at the Club for caring and pushing me further to achieve that.” Takeen, age 15, is a 10-year member and wonderful example of the many great futures that truly start here, at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Binghamton.
Over 70 percent of the boys and girls we serve live in poverty. The Boys & Girls Clubs of Binghamton not only provides a hot meal every evening but also educational and recreational programming unparalleled in our community.
Your generosity delivers crucial operating support and ensures our kids a safe place to go after school, caring role models, and opportunities that redirect the course of their lives. Our local kids are striving to succeed, and they count on the help of individuals like you to make their Club experience possible every day.
Sincerely,
Charles Woody, Jr.
